Last week, members of the FiR team visited all of our depots and spent time speaking with operatives both at their depot locations and out on site. The aim was simple: to listen, learn and better understand the experiences and perspectives of the people who make TMO Highways what it is.
The week provided a valuable opportunity for open and honest conversations across the business. We received some excellent feedback, along with several thought-provoking ideas and suggestions that have been noted and will now be considered for implementation where appropriate.
Discussions covered a wide range of important topics, including PTSD, family illness and the support available within the workplace, how we can better support colleagues with disabilities, and the impact of unconscious bias. These conversations highlighted the importance of continuing to create an environment where everyone feels respected, included and able to thrive.
One of the most valuable aspects of the week was hearing the different viewpoints and experiences from across our workforce. Whether in the depots across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and the Midlands, Cambridge and Lincolnshire and London, in our offices, sign shops or out on the road, every perspective helps us better understand the challenges people face and identify opportunities to improve.
A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to speak with us. Your honesty, feedback and willingness to share your experiences are invaluable and will help shape future FiR initiatives across the business.
We also hope the staff members enjoyed the brownies delivered during the visits, which were a small thankyou for your time and participation!
FiR Week reinforced just how important it is to keep these conversations going. The ideas put forward have been collated, and work is already underway to put in improvements based on staff suggestions.
By listening to one another and learning from different perspectives, we can continue building a workplace where fairness, inclusion and respect are at the heart of everything we do.
