This week the team at TMO Traffic Highways Ltd took part in some neurodiversity training, and it was genuinely eye-opening.
A huge thank you to Hayley Frankland, who delivered the session and explained everything incredibly well turning a complex and important topic into something clear, practical, and relevant to all of us.
At TMO Highways, we recognise that every individual thinks, learns and works differently. As part of our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive, members of our team recently attended a Neurodiversity Awareness training session at our head office.
Neurodiversity refers to the natural variation in how people experience and interact with the world. This includes conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other neurological differences. By increasing our understanding of neurodiversity, we can create a working environment that values different perspectives, strengths and ways of thinking.
The training provided valuable insight into the experiences of neurodivergent individuals and highlighted practical ways to support colleagues both in the workplace and out on site. Discussions covered communication styles, barriers that neurodivergent people may face, and how small adjustments can make a significant difference to wellbeing, confidence and performance.
As a business, we understand that diversity of thought is one of our greatest strengths. The traffic management and event management industry relies on problem-solving, innovation and teamwork, and embracing neurodiversity helps us build stronger, more effective teams whilst ensuring that every employee feels respected, supported and able to reach their full potential. In attendance, we had representatives from several depots making sure that the training can reach staff covering all area of our work including Norfolk and Suffolk, Essex and Herts, Bedfordshire and The Midlands, Cambridge and Lincolnshire and London.
This training forms part of TMO Highways’ wider commitment to Fairness, Inclusion and Respect (FIR), reinforcing our belief that an inclusive culture benefits not only our employees but also our customers, partners and the communities in which we work.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the session and look forward to continuing our journey towards a more inclusive and understanding workplace for all.
