TMO and Octavius proud to support a local food bank in Colchester with a donation of over 288kg of food.

At TMO Highways, social value is more than a box to tick. It is a responsibility we take seriously and one we try to live up to by supporting the communities we work in whenever we can.

In the run-up to Christmas, a time that can be especially tough for many families, we were proud to support a local food bank in Colchester with a donation of over 288kg of food, That is roughly the same weight as a fully grown Bengal tiger, though thankfully much easier to transport and far more useful to the community!

Food banks play a vital role in supporting people facing short-term financial hardship. They provide emergency food supplies to individuals and families who may be struggling due to rising living costs, unexpected life events, or changes in circumstances. For many, food banks are a lifeline, offering dignity, reassurance, and practical support during difficult times.

To make sure our donation went as far as possible, Dave and Chanel Kingsbury dedicated over six hours in the supermarkets. With careful planning and plenty of determination, they stretched the budget to its limit, focusing on worthwhile, nutritious, and healthy food choices that would genuinely help those in need.

Working alongside a valued client of ours Octavius, we donated the goods directly to the Colchester food bank. We sincerely hope this contribution helped ease some of the pressure faced by local Essex families during the festive period.

Small actions can make a meaningful difference, especially when they are rooted in care, teamwork, and a shared commitment to giving back. We are proud of everyone involved and remain committed to supporting our local communities wherever possible.
