ISO39001 Working group formed

Wednesday 13th March 2024 was a momentous day at TMO with the formation of the ISO39001 working group. Preliminary works have now started ahead of the upcoming stage one assessment by BSI.

The group consists of Mark Haysman (MD), Ben Green (Operations Director), Jamie Lange (Operations & Fleet Manager), Ryan Smith (HSEQ Officer) along with our trusted external consultants from Prepared4.  The working group will meet weekly at our Suffolk HQ and will be the driving force in setting our key objectives on this project.

As a business we do nearly 2 million miles a year, meaning the risks from driving whilst at work is one of the biggest risk areas within the business. Our vision for ISO39001 and the purpose of getting it is to quite simply save lives and reduces accidents on the road. Whilst we boast a proud record when it comes to road safety we decided we could do more and so the working group was born. Stakeholders across our sector are under increasing pressure to manage road traffic safety in more efficient, transparent and cost effective ways. ISO 39001 provides the framework for Road Traffic Safety Management Systems (RTSMS), enabling the like of us, that work with road traffic systems to improve safety and reduce the risk of injuries or death caused by accidents.

We want to demonstrate our commitment to road traffic safety and prevent death and / or injuries for not just our fleet of traffic management operatives across East Anglia, London and The Midlands, but also to benefit the general public who we share the roads with. We are planning to implement a comprehensive safety management framework which should lead to the certification through BSI and further enhance our credentials as well as overall safety record.
Ben Green, Operations Director

Our 4 key goals for ISO39001 are;

  • tick icon Improve road safety and reduce incidents.
  • tick icon Meet organisational safety and social responsibility targets.
  • tick iconIdentify ways to improve efficiency and cut expenditure.
  • tick icon Develop and maintain a consistent approach to road traffic safety.

We shall post about the development of the ISO39001 along the journey with the aim to be fully certified by December 2024.
