TMO Highways Introduces Footwell Spotlights Across Fleet to Improve Safety and Comfort
The upgrade follows a practical suggestion from the organisation’s Fleet & Plant Manager, who identified an opportunity to improve working conditions, particularly during low‑light operations.
TMO Highways has announced the rollout of new footwell spotlights across its fleet of vans, enhancing visibility and safety for drivers during both entry and exit. The upgrade follows a practical suggestion from the organisation’s Fleet & Plant Manager, who identified an opportunity to improve working conditions, particularly during low‑light operations.
Improving Safety During Ingress and Egress
Many of TMO Highways’ operations take place during early mornings, setting up Traffic Management across Norfolk and Suffolk or layouts for Events in London along with everything in between! The Traffic Management setups are often in environments where external lighting can be limited. The newly installed footwell spotlights illuminate the lower cabin area, helping drivers and operatives:
- Clearly see steps and surfaces when entering or leaving the vehicle
- Reduce slips, trips, and falls caused by poor visibility
This proactive improvement aligns with TMO Highways’ ongoing commitment to safety and continuous fleet development.
Looking Ahead
Footwell lighting is the latest in a broader series of vehicle enhancements under review within the Fleet & Plant department.
TMO Highways remains committed to evolving its fleet in ways that directly support the teams who rely on these vehicles every day.
Reflecting a Culture of Continuous Improvement
The footwell spotlight project sits alongside other ongoing vehicle enhancements aimed at making day‑to‑day tasks easier for staff. By encouraging suggestions from those who work closest to the vehicles, TMO Highways continues to build a fleet shaped by real operational needs, not assumptions.
This upgrade may be small in size, but it represents something bigger: a company-wide belief that good ideas can come from anywhere, and that every incremental improvement contributes to safer, smarter, and more reliable operations.
Keeping our staff rolling and safe will help TMO Highways in strengthening our capacity to deliver contracts professionally, competitively, and with minimal impact across Norfolk and Suffolk, Essex and Herts, Bedfordshire and The Midlands, Cambridge and Lincolnshire and London
