TMO Highways Conducts first of the Vehicle Visibility Checks.

TMO Highways Conducts first of the Vehicle Visibility Checks using a visibility system that uses a grid to discover blind spots on its vehicles.

As part of our ongoing commitment to road safety and operational excellence, TMO Highways recently undertook a comprehensive vehicle visibility check to support our ISO 39001 accreditation. This important exercise focused on identifying and addressing potential blind spots in our fleet, ensuring that our vehicles meet the highest standards of safety and visibility. Ryan Smith and Jamie Lange undertook the task, taking to a private piece of open ground to meticulously measure and assess the visibility of our vehicles. Using precise measuring equipment and structured testing protocols, they identified any potential blind spots and gathered valuable data to improve vehicle safety and operator awareness.

“This was an important step in enhancing the safety of our fleet,” said Jamie. “Understanding and importantly, communicating the limitations of vehicle visibility allows us to investigate effective solutions, ensuring our drivers have the best possible awareness on the road.”

Jamie added, “Achieving ISO 39001 accreditation means demonstrating our commitment to road traffic safety at every level. These visibility tests help us continue that commitment and help identify risks and mitigate them before they become hazards.”

This initiative reflects TMO Highways’ dedication to continuous improvement and safety. By proactively identifying and resolving visibility issues, we aim to create a safer working environment for our team and all road users.  The vehicles being tested were 1 flatbed van that mainly covers the Norfolk and Suffolk areas and a smaller Ford Courier van more suited to our traffic management works in the London and Essex areas.  We will also be testing our other vans and lorries including our fleet of IPVs that service our high-speed traffic management contracts in Cambridge, The Midlands and everywhere else!

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to enhance our safety standards!
