ISO39001 Road Traffic Safety
Ben Green and Ryan Smith lead team to success, staff praised, and a safety message for every driver.
TMO Highways has successfully passed the rigorous 39001 BSI audit, marking a major milestone in the company’s commitment to quality, safety, and organisational excellence. Under the focused leadership of Ben Green (IMS & Operations Director) and Ryan Smith (HSEQ Officer), the audit results reflect not only solid compliance but a culture of continuous improvement across the business.
Ryan, Ben and the entire TMO Team would like to pass their gratitude to Dave Conway who has been providing advice to TMO since we first decided to go for 39001 as an accreditation. Dave’s input has been invaluable and has given us some great ideas that will no doubt save many lives. Thanks Dave!
“Today’s success is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of every member of our team,” said Ben. “This outcome wouldn’t be possible without the hard work and attention to detail shown across all departments.” Ryan added his own recognition, thanking staff for embracing the process and demonstrating outstanding teamwork.
TMO Highways’ leadership was quick to underscore the company’s ongoing commitment to safety on the job and beyond. “Our standards don’t stop at compliance,” said Ben. “We want everyone, whether TMO staff, contractors, or members of the public, to be as safe as possible out on the roads.”
Covering so many miles per year around all our areas like East Anglia, London the Midlands and more, road traffic safety is a big deal for us.
That message resonates against the backdrop of UK road safety statistics, which paint a sober picture of the risks drivers and road users still face. According to the latest Department for Transport figures, in 2024 there were around 1,602 fatalities in reported road collisions in Great Britain, with 29,467 people killed or seriously injured. In total, more than 128,000 casualties of all severities were recorded across the UK’s road network in 2024.
These figures translate roughly to about five deaths and dozens of serious injuries every day, reinforcing the need for constant vigilance behind the wheel. Advocates stress that safe driving habits, compliance with traffic laws, and regular safety audits are all parts of reducing avoidable harm on British roads.
In light of the audit success, TMO Highways is also urging colleagues and the wider community to drive safely during the festive season and year-round. “Please take your responsibility seriously,” said Ben. “Whether your journey is long or short, drive attentively and look out for others.”
