Sign off success…
Chris Pearson one of our March ’23 trainees has successfully completed the TMO Highways training programme and is now signed off.
Chris has become the first of his class to pass all 6 of his sign off audits, complete his LANTRA T1/T2 classroom and then go on to successfully get signed off on his live site assessments.
Darren Bailey our lead surveyor / auditor has overseen Chris’ audits and we quick to praise the desire to learn and passion for perfection that Chris possesses.
It only took one meeting with Chris to see that he possessed the exact qualities that we are looking for here at TMO. He was personable, hard working and was hungry to succeed. It was a real pleasure watching him develop and each time I went out to sign him off it was clear that he had picked up the TMO way very fast. He will go on to be a very good operative here at TMO, hopefully for a very long time.
Chris is one of 15 new trainees we have taken on at TMO Highways in 2023. These trainees are expanding our ever growing team of traffic management operatives across East Anglia and London. We have been blessed with the 2023 crop and others are just behind Chris in terms of their sign-off progress. With the upcoming opening of the St Neots depot we will continue to blend experienced operatives alongside new trainees to help service our clients needs.

First St Neots depot operative joins…
Monday saw the very first St Neots depot operative start with TMO Highways.
Linden Rice will play a key part in the opening of our new depot to service the Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire areas following the award of the UKPN primary supplier status last month.
The advert for LANTRA qualified operatives was only up a week due to the incredible amount of interest from throughout East Anglia. We were able to successfully recruit the initial 3x members of staff required from over 40 applicants. As with moving in to any new area we were concerned that our name might not be synonymous with traffic management in those geographical areas however we were happy to be proven wrong. TMO’s reputation for high quality setups, equipment and treatment of staff reaches far and wide and the successful applicants were grateful to be able to join the TMO family.
Workforce Increases
We would like to offer a big TMO welcome to our recent new starters who have joined our ranks to further bolster our staffing numbers throughout East Anglia.
Our recent performance levels and continued commitment to excellence has enabled us to branch into new areas for a number of existing clients who have seen what we can offer first hand and wish to engage our services further afield. We are finding site agents recommending us to their colleagues who then reach out to TMO having experienced service failures from their existing traffic management suppliers.
TMO Highways now a primary supplier in Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire
We are proud to announce that due to our excellent performance for UK Power Networks in Norfolk that we are now their primary supplier in Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire for both planned and emergency works.
TMO and UKPN have long had a great working relationship and this has been further strengthen by the high quality performance levels we have provided them during year one for the latest contract award. Our daily strive for the highest quality service has facilitated the ability for us to expand our coverage area for their electrical works.
Credit must go to the entire operations and planning teams who have excelled when it comes to hitting UK Power Networks 2 hour emergency response KPI as well as our punctuality for their planned works. Our highly skilled planning team are often the first port of call when it comes to emergency works. They use their years of skill and experience to asses the traffic management required before providing a kit list or a CAD plan to allow our operatives to begin loading to ensure we get on site within the 2 hours. Our internal standards mean that any traffic management plan is doubled checked by a Lantra M7 qualified member of staff to ensure that our ‘right first time’ promise is met. Our commitment to efficient time keeping extends to our manual control requests, operative on site and planned works. We invest heavily in the last technology to accurately and honestly report our performance related data to our clients. This open and honest approach to our performance builds a strong sense of trust and allows us to take control of our own destiny within any contract framework. The entire team from office through to operatives understand the standards required to work at TMO Highways. The Directors are now working behind the scenes to secure a new depot in the area allowing us to bring our high quality of work to the streets of Cambridge, St Neots, Peterborough, Bedford, Ampthill, St Ives and beyond into the Midlands.
