Solar powered traffic lights hit the fleet!
TMO Traffic Highways Limited is proud to announce the successful upgrade of eight temporary traffic lights to solar power, marking a significant step in our commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency. This initiative is part of a larger rollout that will see a total of 80 traffic lights upgraded to solar power across our network.
The move to solar technology means these lights no longer require routine battery changes, drastically reducing the need for site visits. This not only saves our clients money on maintenance and logistics, but also significantly cuts down on vehicle mileage and associated CO₂e emissions.
“This upgrade demonstrates our continued focus on innovation and environmental responsibility,” said Ben Green, Operations Director at TMO Traffic Highways Limited. “By investing in solar-powered solutions, we’re delivering smarter traffic management tools while helping our clients reduce their carbon footprint.”
With 72 more upgrades to come, this rollout is a major milestone in TMO’s broader strategy to modernize temporary traffic infrastructure while supporting cleaner, greener operations across the UK.
